Domestic Scaffolding Hire

Scaffolding for homes is most of what we do. Roof repairs, loft conversions, extensions, chimney work, painting, new windows. Whatever the trade needs to reach safely, we put up a scaffold that fits the house, the street and the job, then take it down the moment you are done.

What we scaffold at home

Roofing and chimneys

Full roof replacements, re-tiling, flat roofs, chimney repointing and removal. Temporary roofs available so the house stays dry.

Extensions and loft conversions

Access to the new build line and the roof, adapted as the walls go up and the dormer goes in.

Windows, render and painting

Single elevation or full wrap-around, with safe working platforms at every level.

Gutters, fascias and soffits

Light scaffolds or towers for short jobs where a ladder is not safe.

Awkward access

Conservatories, alleyways, driveways and shared paths. We bridge over them rather than through them.

Recent job: loft conversion on a detached house

A full wrap scaffold to every elevation with a working lift at eaves level, brick guards and debris netting along the top lift, a lifting wheel at the gable for the builder's materials, and the entrance protected so the family could keep using the front door. Built around the garden, the car port and the hedge rather than through them.

Which scaffold does your job need?

Roof replacement or re-tiling

A scaffold around the whole roof line at eaves height, with a double guard rail and toe boards so tiles and tools cannot fall. If the roof is coming off completely, ask about a temporary roof so the house stays dry between strip and re-cover.

Chimney repointing or removal

A chimney stack scaffold built off the roof slope, or a tower from the ground if the stack is on a gable. Usually one or two days of hire, so this is one of the cheaper jobs.

Loft conversion

Normally a scaffold to the rear and one side, built before the roof is opened and adapted when the dormer goes in. We work in with your builder's programme so it is never in the way.

Extension

The scaffold follows the build: nothing at footings stage, then lifts added as the walls rise, then access to the roof for the roofer. Priced for the whole job so there are no surprise extras.

Painting, render or new windows

A single elevation scaffold with working platforms at each floor. Front elevations on a pavement will need a council licence, which we arrange.

Gutters, fascias and small repairs

A mobile tower or a short run of scaffold. Quick to put up, quick to take down, and safer than a ladder for anything above a single storey.

How it works

  1. Call or message. Tell us the job, the address and roughly when the trade is booked. The phone is answered 24 hours a day.
  2. We look and quote. We visit, usually the same day in North London and Herts, and give you a fixed price by phone, WhatsApp or text, or in writing if you prefer. The quote is free.
  3. Licence if needed. If any part of the scaffold sits on a public pavement, the council needs a licence. We apply for it and build it into the timeline.
  4. Erect, inspect, strike. We build it, normally within 72 hours of you saying yes and sometimes the same day, hand it over, and come back to dismantle when you call. Weekly inspections are available if you want them.

Domestic Scaffolding Hire FAQ

How much does domestic scaffolding cost?

It depends on the size and height of the scaffold, how long you need it, whether a pavement licence is needed, and extras such as a temporary roof. See our scaffolding prices page for what moves the number, then call for a fixed quote.

How quickly can you put scaffolding up?

For most houses in North London and Hertfordshire we can quote the same day and normally have the scaffold up within 72 hours. If the diary allows it can be the same day. Pavement licences can add a few days because the council sets the timescale.

Do I need to tell my neighbours?

If the scaffold needs to stand on or over a neighbour's land you will need their permission. We will tell you at the quote stage if that applies and design around it where we can.

Will the scaffold damage my garden or drive?

Tell us about new paving, block drives or planting when you book and we will plan the scaffold base to protect them.

Are you insured and certified?

Yes. Our scaffolders are CISRS trained and CSCS card holders, and the company is CHAS registered and SafeContractor approved. Details are on our insurance and accreditations pages.
